VENICE (275 Km)
Venice, which rises on the Venetian lagoon, is spread over 118 small islands connected by 354 bridges and divided by 177 rivers and canals. Famous and renowned is Piazza San Marco, by definition the only square in the city (the others are called campi or campielli), one of the most beautiful in the world, where the homonymous basilica, the Doge's Palace and the historic bell tower are located. Another symbol of the city is the Rialto Bridge overlooked by the characteristic shops. It has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
