CIPPO PANTANI
Do you love cycling?
Here is the perfect place for you at the gates of Romagna, more precisely we are in Carpegna.
Carpegna is a town in the province of Pesaro Urbino, in the Montefeltro area, also famous for its DOP ham. The altitude at which the town is located is excellent, in order to breathe pure air in a healthy environment, which can be that of the interregional park of the Sassi di Simone and Simoncello.
The ascent of Mount Carpegna, loved by the cycling champion Marco Pantani, must be covered to see the monument that commemorates him. The bike route begins outside the town, indicated by the "Cippo Pantani" signs.
It can be traveled by car up to the Cippo Pantani in the woods, or by bicycle up to the Carpegna pass, where the Giro and Tour champion used to train.
In every curve along the route, on the floor or on the walls, there are sentences in memory of the champion. An example of a very significant sentence is: "Carpegna is enough for me", which the champion used to say to indicate his favorite destination, where to train for uphill training.
At the top you can find a fountain.
Annemiek as the pirate: the Dutch Annemiek van Vleuten, 39 years old, after the Giro d'Italia also conquered the women's Tour de France, completing a historic one-two finish that had been missing since 1998, when Marco Pantani managed the pairing.
